Remove.bg uses AI to detect the foreground and strip the background out of a photo in seconds. Upload an image, get a transparent PNG, with no manual selection or Photoshop skills needed. It is strongest on people, products, animals and cars, and it has grown past plain cutouts: a Magic Brush for manual touch-ups, an AI background generator, and an AI Shadow tool. Bulk editing runs up to 500 images per minute. The free web tier returns previews up to 0.25 megapixels and is licensed for personal use only; paid credits unlock output up to 50 megapixels and commercial use. Remove.bg is a Canva Austria GmbH brand, and Canva is retiring it: from 1 December 2026 the standalone site closes and the same technology is reached through Canva for manual work and through the Leonardo.Ai API for automated work.

Short-term work only. Until 1 December 2026 it still suits ecommerce sellers processing product photos at scale, designers who need quick cutouts, and developers calling the API. After that date the manual workflow lives in Canva and the API workflow lives in Leonardo.Ai, so anyone starting a new integration today should build against the replacement instead.
