Best Publer Alternatives in 2026

ToolChaseTC Score for Publer: 4.2/5Last verified: September 2026

Publer is a social media scheduler that covers an unusually long list of networks, from Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and LinkedIn through to Mastodon, Bluesky, Telegram and WordPress, and it prices its paid plans per connected social account rather than in fixed bundles. People go looking for something else for three specific reasons: X accounts require a paid subscription, the AI and the analytics are locked to the top self-serve tier, and a per-account bill keeps climbing as the account list grows. The five alternatives below split into schedulers that charge the same way, platforms that charge per seat, and one that charges per client brand.

Why look for Publer alternatives?

Start with what Publer genuinely does well, because for many readers the honest answer is to stay put.

  • → The free plan is free forever rather than a countdown trial: 1 user, 1 workspace, 3 social accounts, 10 scheduled posts per account at a time, 25 saved drafts and 24 hours of post history
  • → Network coverage is wide: Facebook profiles, pages, locations and groups, Instagram, TikTok, X, Threads, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Mastodon, Google Business Profiles, YouTube, Telegram, Bluesky and WordPress
  • → Per-account pricing means you pay for the accounts you actually run, and for every 9 social accounts the 10th is free, a rule that also applies to additional members
  • → Awkward post types are covered: Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, Facebook carousels, LinkedIn PDF carousels, and reminder-based publishing for posts the network APIs will not take, such as posts to Facebook Groups
  • → Every payment carries 14 days to request a full refund, and Publer offers a 50% discount to charities and non-profit organizations

And the reasons people still leave, all of them read off the live plans page and help center.

  • → X costs money. The free plan lists 3 social accounts “except X”, and Publer states that because of the X Enterprise API cost it can only support X accounts on a paid subscription basis
  • → The AI and the numbers both sit on the top self-serve tier. Unlimited AI prompts, analytics insights and reports, best times to post, competitor analysis, hashtag suggestions, spintax-powered post recycling and access to the Publer API and MCP are all Business features
  • → The bill scales with the account list. Professional is $5 per social account per month, or $4 per social account per month billed yearly; Business is $10 per social account per month, or $8 per social account per month billed yearly
  • → Team members are a second meter. Additional members are charged separately from the social account count, so a small team posting to many networks pays on two axes at once
  • → Small print worth reading before you budget: Publer states “VAT not included” on the plans page, and on the free plan a Pinterest account needs at least 100 followers or a claimed website before you can connect it, a Pinterest automation policy that Publer says does not apply on a paid subscription

Buffer · 4.3/5Direct alternative

Best for the same per-channel billing with a simpler product.

Buffer is the closest structural match here: it bills by the connected channel, the way Publer does. Its free plan is 3 channels, 10 scheduled posts per channel and 1 user, with the AI Assistant included. Essentials is $5 per channel per month billed annually, shown as $60 billed yearly per channel, and adds unlimited scheduled posts, detailed analytics and reports, a custom link shortener and a hashtag manager. Team is $10 per channel per month billed annually, shown as $120 billed yearly per channel, and adds unlimited team members, approval workflows, draft collaboration and client permissions. Buffer discounts the per-channel rate past 10 channels, and its Start Page link-in-bio builder is bundled rather than sold separately. Set against Publer at a similar per-unit rate, Buffer puts analytics one tier lower and stops charging for extra people entirely on Team, where Publer meters additional members on top of the account count. If your team is more than one person and you post to mainstream networks, Buffer is the better buy at the same unit price. The trade is coverage and automation: Buffer's ToolChase review flags no unified social inbox, no social listening on any plan, and no RSS auto-posting, all of which Publer covers.

Hootsuite · 4.2/5Enterprise option

Best for a unified inbox, approvals and listening in one seat.

Hootsuite solves everything around scheduling rather than scheduling itself. One dashboard consolidates comments, direct messages and mentions from every connected network into a single inbox, OwlyWriter AI drafts posts and captions, and the higher tiers add approval workflows, message routing and brand monitoring. Pricing is per user per month billed annually: Standard $99 with 10 social accounts, Professional $199 with unlimited social accounts, Advanced $399 adding content approval workflows and team performance measurement, and Enterprise on custom pricing with listening, SSO and compliance tooling. There is a 14-day free trial with no credit card required, and Hootsuite offers no permanent free plan. Ten social accounts on Publer Business is ten times $10 a month on monthly billing, or ten times $8 billed yearly, which lands in similar territory to Hootsuite Standard and its 10 social accounts, except that Publer prices the accounts and Hootsuite prices the person. Publer stays cheaper for a solo operator on a handful of accounts; Hootsuite pulls ahead the moment you need an inbox, an approval chain or listening. Its ToolChase review is blunt about the rest: a cluttered, dated interface, a steeper learning curve, and each additional seat billed at the full plan rate.

Later · 4.3/5Visual, Instagram-first

Best for planning Instagram, TikTok and Pinterest visually.

Later sells a different unit again: the social set, which is 8 profiles, one per platform, and the plans stack sets rather than accounts. Starter is $18.75 a month billed yearly for 1 social set, 1 user, 30 posts per profile per month and 5 AI credits a month. Growth is $37.50 a month billed yearly for 2 sets and 16 profiles, 2 users, 180 posts per profile per month, 50 AI credits, the social inbox, internal and external approvals, and UGC collection. Scale is $82.50 a month billed yearly for 6 sets and 48 profiles, 4 users, unlimited posts, 100 AI credits and competitive benchmarking. Add-ons are priced separately at $11.25 a month per extra social set, $3.75 a month per extra user and $3.75 a month per extra 100 AI credits. Later has no free plan, only a 14-day trial. The premium buys the visual planning loop: a drag-and-drop calendar with the Instagram grid preview that shows the feed as it will look once the queue publishes, plus a Link in Bio page on every paid plan. Two things to weigh against Publer. Later meters AI by credits where Publer Business sells unlimited AI prompts, and our Later review records that X is no longer on Later's list of supported platforms, which rules it out if X is part of the job.

Metricool · 4.2/5Agency, per brand

Best for client reporting across several brands.

Metricool counts brands, not accounts and not seats, which makes it the natural switch when the real deliverable is a monthly client report. Each brand holds one profile per network plus a website and Facebook, Google and TikTok ad accounts, so paid and organic performance sit in one dashboard. The free plan covers 1 brand, 20 scheduled posts a month, 5 competitor profiles, 30 days of analytics history and the AI assistant with 5 credits per brand a month. Starter runs from $20 a month billed annually for up to 5 brands, rising to $36 a month billed annually for up to 10, and unlocks unlimited publishing under a fair use policy, 100 competitors, unlimited analytics history, PDF and PPT reports and Flows automations, with 20 AI credits per brand a month. Advanced runs from $53 a month billed annually for up to 15 brands and $159 a month billed annually for up to 50, adding team and client management, post approvals, custom report templates, the Looker Studio connector and the API, with 35 AI credits per brand a month. Prices exclude VAT. X is sold as a $10 a month add-on per connected account on Starter, and the pricing table lists it as included on Advanced. Against Publer the split is clean: Publer is cheaper when you run a few accounts for yourself, Metricool is better equipped when you run many accounts for other people.

SocialBee · 4.1/5Evergreen automation

Best for keeping recycled content categories in rotation.

SocialBee organizes the work differently rather than simply pricing it differently. You sort posts into content categories such as tips, promotions or blog posts, give each category its own schedule, and SocialBee fills the calendar from those buckets, recycling evergreen items and expiring time-sensitive ones. Publer has spintax-powered post recycling too, but it sits on the Business tier and is a feature rather than the organizing principle. Pricing is flat rather than per unit: Bootstrap $29 a month, or $290 a year, for 5 social profiles, 1 user, 1 workspace, 10 content categories and 3 months of analytics history; Accelerate $49 a month, or $490 a year, for 10 profiles, 50 categories, advanced analytics with 2 years of history, a bulk editor, CSV uploads and post approvals; Pro $99 a month, or $990 a year, for 25 profiles, 3 users per workspace and 5 workspaces. Agency plans cover 50, 100 and 150 profiles. Yearly billing saves 16%. SocialBee has no free plan, but every plan starts with a 14-day free trial that does not ask for a credit card, and there is a 30-day money-back guarantee. The headline difference from Publer is the AI: unlimited AI content generation sits on every SocialBee plan, including the $29 one.

Which one to pick

  • → Buffer if you liked Publer's per-unit billing but want analytics a tier earlier and no charge for extra people. It scores 4.3/5, the joint highest here, and it is the default pick for a small team on mainstream networks
  • → Metricool if you post on behalf of clients. Per-brand pricing, ad data next to organic, and PDF and PPT reports make it the pick for freelancers and agencies
  • → Later if the work is Instagram, TikTok and Pinterest and you plan the feed visually. Skip it if you need X
  • → SocialBee if the job is keeping an evergreen mix rotating with little daily effort, or if unlimited AI drafting on the entry plan is what tipped you out of Publer
  • → Hootsuite if you need a unified inbox, a real approval chain and brand monitoring, and the budget is set per person rather than per account
  • → Stay on Publer if you publish to Telegram, WordPress, Mastodon or Bluesky, if a free plan that does not expire matters, or if you run a small number of accounts on your own, where per-account pricing is still the cheapest way to buy scheduling. Read the full Publer review →
