What is ClickUp?

ClickUp is a work management platform built around tasks, organized in Spaces, Folders and Lists. You can switch between List, Board and Calendar views and a dozen more, including Gantt, Table, Workload and Mind Map, with Docs, Whiteboards, Chat, Forms, Dashboards, Goals and sprints alongside. Its AI is ClickUp Brain, now marketed as Brain²: you can @mention it in task comments or Chat, switch it between Claude, GPT, Gemini and other models, and use it in the Brain MAX desktop and mobile apps. ClickUp's AI also includes Super Agents, AI teammates you can assign tasks to and message, plus Autopilot Agents, AI Fields and an AI Notetaker. ClickUp sells this AI as a per-user add-on (Brain AI, formerly AI Standard, or Everything AI). It says it connects to more than 1,000 tools, lists SOC 2 and ISO 27001 certification, and forbids third-party AI providers from training on your data.

What is Taskade?

Taskade is an AI workspace where teams build and run AI apps, agents and workflows around their projects. Projects can be viewed eight ways (List, Board, Table, Mind Map, Gantt, Calendar, Actionsheet and Org Chart), with real-time editing and a chat box in every project where teammates and AI agents talk side by side. Custom agents get instructions, knowledge from your files, projects, links and YouTube videos, tools and slash commands, and they can work together as AI Teams. Automations start from triggers such as a new task, a form, a schedule, a webhook or a Gmail or Slack event, and they can branch and loop. Taskade Genesis turns one prompt into a live app, such as a CRM, dashboard or client portal, wired to your projects, agents and automations. The AI runs on TSK-1, introduced in July 2026, which routes work across 15+ frontier models from OpenAI, Anthropic and open-weight providers.

Key differences at a glance

Both combine projects, automations and AI agents; they differ most in these areas:

  • -- Project management depth: ClickUp offers a dozen-plus views plus sprints, native time tracking and goals; Taskade offers eight project views, including Gantt, Mind Map and Org Chart.
  • -- Building apps: Taskade Genesis turns a prompt into a live, hosted app such as a CRM or client portal; ClickUp's Brain² creates dashboards, pages and presentations from your Workspace.
  • -- Agents: ClickUp's Super Agents run on AI Super Credits (1,500 per user a month with Brain AI); Taskade Pro includes unlimited custom agents on a shared credit pool.
  • -- Security: ClickUp lists SOC 2 and ISO 27001 certification; Taskade says both are in progress.
  • -- Score: ClickUp rates 4.3/5 in our review; Taskade rates 4.2/5.

Pricing comparison

ClickUp charges per user for every Workspace member. Free Forever ($0) includes unlimited tasks, unlimited free plan members and 60MB of storage. Unlimited is $7 per user a month billed yearly ($10 monthly) and adds unlimited storage, Gantt charts, native time tracking and unlimited integrations. Business is $12 per user billed yearly ($19 monthly) and adds Google SSO, 5,000 automations a month and portfolio workload management. Enterprise is priced through sales, with SAML SSO, SCIM and HIPAA available. AI costs extra, per user: Brain AI is $9 a month billed yearly ($14 monthly) and Everything AI, which ClickUp calls its full AI stack, is $28 ($33 monthly). The fee applies to all Workspace members, Free Forever workspaces must upgrade before buying, and Brain AI leaves out the AI Notetaker, which comes with Everything AI or as a standalone add-on.

Taskade sells each plan as one monthly price with users included. Free covers 2 users, 1 AI agent, up to 3 apps, 250 MB of storage and 6,000 one-time AI credits. Pro is $10 a month billed annually ($120 a year) or $20 billed monthly, with 10 users, 50,000 AI credits a month, unlimited agents, apps and automations, and 100 GB of storage. Business is $25 a month billed annually ($50 monthly), with unlimited users, 150,000 credits a month, custom domains and SAML SSO. Max is $100 a month billed annually ($200 monthly) with 400,000 credits, and Enterprise, with 1.1 million credits and SCIM, is $250 a month billed annually ($3,000 a year). Paid plans can add credit packs at $5 for 9,000 credits, $20 for 45,000 or $50 for 125,000, and pack credits never expire.

What the entry paid plan buys. ClickUp Unlimited at $7 per user adds unlimited storage, Gantt charts and native time tracking, but its AI stays at trial level: 50 Brain uses per Workspace for up to 10 people and 1,000 AI Super Credits per user, limits that do not reset. Taskade Pro at $10 a month (billed annually) covers up to 10 people with 50,000 AI credits a month. The yardsticks differ: Brain AI includes unlimited fair use of Brain plus 1,500 AI Super Credits per user a month, while every Taskade AI action spends plan credits.

Worked example: a 5-person team. ClickUp Unlimited costs 5 × $7 = $35 a month billed yearly. Adding Brain AI for all five makes it 5 × ($7 + $9) = $80 a month, or 5 × ($10 + $14) = $120 billed monthly; with Everything AI it is 5 × ($7 + $28) = $175 a month billed yearly. Taskade Pro stays at $10 a month billed annually ($20 monthly) for any team of up to 10. Past 10 users, Taskade's next step is Business at $25 a month billed annually, while ClickUp adds a per-user charge for each new member.
