What Comet is

Comet is a web browser from Perplexity with an AI assistant built into it. Instead of copying a page into a chatbot, you ask the Comet Assistant about whatever you have open, and it can also act for you: Perplexity's own examples include comparing how different outlets cover a story, building a basic website, drafting an email reply that shares your schedule, turning a syllabus into a study plan and shopping for an office chair.

Perplexity first shipped Comet to a limited release on 9 July 2025, then released it to everyone for free on 2 October 2025. It now runs on Mac, Windows, iOS and Android. Search answers come from Perplexity, so Comet suits people who already use Perplexity and want the same cited answers without switching tabs.
