Stability AI has retired DreamStudio. As of 2 August 2026, dreamstudio.ai returns a 301 redirect to brandstudio.com (and beta.dreamstudio.ai does the same), while Stability's own stability.ai/dreamstudio page redirects to stability.ai/brandstudio. The replacement is Brand Studio, a creative production platform aimed at brand and agency teams rather than individual Stable Diffusion hobbyists. Stability's published Brand Studio plans are a free trial covering the first 1,000 credits, Core at $50 per month including 5,000 credits that do not roll over, and Enterprise at custom pricing. Everything below is retained as a historical record of DreamStudio as it stood when we last verified it in May 2026. Those credit packs can no longer be purchased, and the pay-as-you-go, credits-never-expire model that made DreamStudio worth recommending no longer exists.
What is DreamStudio?
DreamStudio was Stability AI's official web interface for running Stable Diffusion models directly from the creators of the technology, and it was discontinued in 2026 (see the status note above). The description that follows records the product as it worked before it was retired. Unlike aggregators that layer their own infrastructure over open-source models, DreamStudio gives you first-party access to Stability's latest releases, Stable Image Ultra, Stable Diffusion 3.5 Large, SDXL, and more, with up-to-date features and the cleanest implementation of each model. The pricing model was refreshingly simple: pay only for what you generate. New users receive 200 free credits on signup, and after that you buy credit packs in bulk (roughly $10 for 1,000 credits). One credit equals $0.01, and costs vary by model: Stable Image Ultra is 8 credits per image, Stable Diffusion 3.5 Large is 6.5 credits, and standard SDXL at 512x512 is just 0.2 credits. There is no monthly subscription, no fine print, and no auto-renewal, credits sit in your account until you use them. The web interface is minimal: a prompt box, basic settings for model, aspect ratio, steps, and CFG scale, and a history grid. Power users can crank up detail with 150 steps on 1024x1024 outputs (around 28 credits per image), while casual users can generate low-cost drafts at 0.2 credits apiece.
