What ChatGPT Atlas was
ChatGPT Atlas was a web browser built by OpenAI with ChatGPT at its core. OpenAI launched it on 21 October 2025, worldwide on macOS, for Free, Plus, Pro and Go users, with a beta for Business and, where administrators enabled it, Enterprise and Edu. Windows, iOS and Android versions were announced as coming soon.
Its pitch was ChatGPT in every tab: an Ask ChatGPT sidebar that could read the page you were on, optional browser memories that let ChatGPT recall context from sites you visited, and agent mode, in preview for Plus, Pro and Business users, which could open tabs and click through tasks for you. OpenAI retired it after roughly nine months.
Where it fit
Mac users who already worked in ChatGPT all day and wanted it to see the page they were reading, remember their browsing context and occasionally complete tasks in the browser for them.
Pricing when it shut down
Atlas never had its own price. It was a free download for ChatGPT users on macOS, and some features followed your ChatGPT plan.
