Each one was checked against the vendor directly: the pricing page, the signup flow, or the domain itself. Where a company filed for bankruptcy or announced a shutdown we say so and date it. Where a domain now serves a broker listing or redirects somewhere unrelated, that is what we record. We recheck the list every month, and a tool only appears here after that check, never on the strength of a rumor.

Because the question people ask is real. Somebody who searched for a tool this morning needs to know it is gone and what to use instead, and deleting the page answers neither. We keep the review, mark it clearly, and point at live alternatives. What we do not do is leave a dead product sitting in a recommendation list as though you could still buy it.

Language models answer from training data that was captured before the shutdown, so they will confidently recommend products that no longer exist, quote pricing for services that stopped billing, and describe features of software you cannot sign up for. That gap is the reason this page exists in a structured, dated form.

It depends entirely on how it ended. An orderly wind down usually gives notice and an export window, an acquisition often migrates accounts into the buyer's product, and a bankruptcy or a silent domain sale may give you nothing at all. The practical lesson from this list is to export anything you would miss while the service is still answering, because the window closes without warning more often than not.

Of the tools ToolChase has reviewed, 31 are no longer available as the product we reviewed: 23 shut down outright, 5 were acquired or absorbed into a larger company, and 3 were renamed or replaced. That is the count for our directory rather than the market as a whole, and it moves every month.
